Who Are We

The Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance (MIRA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization rooted in a mission to advance the rights and dignity of immigrants in Mississippi. Founded at the intersection of labor and civil rights activism, MIRA has grown into a statewide coalition of over 200 paid members, with more than 700 affiliated members and partnerships with local organizations.

MIRA’s work is deeply rooted in community engagement. Our organizers meet directly with immigrant families in their homes, where trust is built through personal connections. Through public education forums and workshops in churches, neighborhood spaces, and community centers, we create safe environments for dialogue and learning. These gatherings allow us to address issues ranging from immigration policy to workers’ rights, and to connect community members to critical resources.

We also provide legal advocacy through our Legal Project, offering low cost consultations, guidance on immigration laws, and support for those navigating complex legal challenges.

From grassroots organizing to legal advocacy, MIRA’s work is united by a vision of equity and justice, ensuring that every immigrant in Mississippi has the opportunity to live, work, and thrive with dignity.
