Madeline Casey, left, with US District Court Judge Carlton Reeves and Patricia Ice
Our fall semester MIRA intern is Madeline Casey, from Pass Christian, Mississippi. She is a senior Social Work and Spanish Major at Mississippi State University. Maddie said she chose to do her internship with MIRA because she, like MIRA, is passionate about human rights and wants to do her part, however small, to fight with the disenfranchised and work for a better tomorrow. After a month of working with MIRA she has had a multitude of experiences that have educated her about the realities of immigration. “I have found the work here at MIRA to be intense but rewarding and though I am only here for a short period of time, I know that what I have learned will stick with me for a lifetime,” said Maddie.
